14 July 2012 Utah Beach
Our extended family of 10, including 5 kids, have just returned, still buzzing from our wonderful holiday. As seasoned travellers we have come to accept a dollop of realism when renting a house based on an owner's description; more often than not the reality doesn't match the web description but not this time. Tansy's Normandy beach house more than lived up to expectations. Not only was the beach location ideal but the attention to detail meant that comfort and convenience were prioritised. We were hugely impressed with all the little details that insured a home from home feel eg kitchen stocked with every utensil, permanent hot water for anytime showers, Sky tv and internet wi-fi, more towels than we could ever use, an abundance of beach toys for kids and a terrace packed with outdoor furniture. Needless to say the standard of cleanliness throughout the house was also very high. In terms of location we couldn't have wished for better. Every morning we visited a different town, WW2 attraction or market before returning for a late afternoon on the historic and very beautiful Utah beach. Every evening we dined in the sunroom with the sea and setting sun as our backdrop. As a host Tansy couldn't have been more helpful, advising us on our itinery from arrival to departure and even inviting us to her own lovely home so that the kids could enjoy her mini animal farm while the adults sampled some Normandy hospitality. If a holiday which combines WW2 history with a high standard of comfort and relaxation appeals to you then I strongly recommend this perfect Normandy beach house.

My husband, son and I had the pleasure of staying in Tansy and Mike's Normandy home for a week in June. We loved the house! The large bathrooms and kitchen were a huge plus. The kitchen was very functional and well equipt. The beach was beautiful with a lovely view from the sunroom and family room. The WiFi worked quite well and we even managed to find the Food Network on the TV one evening. The location could not have been better. We could walk right down the street to the Utah Beach Museum and a pub! The small village of St. Marie du Mont and the larger St. Mare Eglise are a short distance with much to see and tour. There is a fantastic boulangerie in St. Mare Eglise! Mike and Tansy were a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend staying at their beach house!
09 June 2012 Utah Beach
Where to start? This house was fantastically equipped with all that is needed to have a fantastic time in Normandy. The location - when the ad stated that the house was on Utah beach, i expected a little poetic licence - this house IS ON Utah beach. It was great meeting Mike and Tansy, who took the time to explain areas of interest and suggested things to do - and where to buy fresh seafood! It was a shame we didn't get the weather - the house and the location of the house definitely made a wet weather holiday enjoyable. On arrival, the house was spotlessly clean. the kitchen had everything you will need to cook and enjoy the local produce. Mike and Tansy defiantly understand what their guests want and they went the extra mile with us to ensure we had all the information about the area. would i recommend this property to others - the answer is NO! The reason - there will be no more availability for our family to go again! If you want a great property in a great location - look no further - we loved it.
26th May 2012 Utah Beach
This is the third year that we've stayed in this lovely house on the beach and it never fails to impress. It's well equipped, with lots of room and character but the best bit has to be it's amazing location - you are quite literally on a quiet, safe and picturesque beach within 30 seconds of leaving the back door. The dramatic story of the D-Day landings is all around and you can't fail to want to learn more about this pivotal point in history, whether it's a short stroll to the Mus?e at Utah Beach or a drive to other beaches and locations. We do all agree though that Utah beach is the most beautiful! This location and the wonderful house always makes for an unforgettable family holiday - with 4 generations from the ages from 3 months - 83 years all enjoying it equally. Thank you Tansy and we're all looking forward to returning in 2013!

Two months later and we are still missing "our" Utah Beach home. So many wonderful memories, from the minute we arrived until the minute we left two weeks later we had no problems, everything was perfect. The house was more than we could have ever expected. The rooms were beautifully decorated and clean. The sun room was a bonus even on rainy days is was bright and cheerful. The fully stocked kitchen was delightful for cooking. The house easily accommodated 6 adults and 2 children. The views are fantastic and the beach is magical, you can easily imagine all the troops coming ashore. It is centrally located to all the Northern Normandy attractions and just a short walk to the Utah Beach Museum and local cafe. Tansy and Mike, thank you is not enough! The information you provided regarding sights to see, travel directions, restaurants and which seafood establishment to purchase or huitre and moule was invaluable. Our grandchildren are still talking about your anaimals and collecting the farm fresh eggs. Your friendship and time spent on Utah Beach will always be endearing to us. We will be returning!

The word enchanting says it all! This house makes your holiday. The comfort of the house and the love put in by it´s owners immediately relaxes you and gives you a holiday feeling from the moment you step in. It was decorated for X mas with a real tree and a present for us waiting below the tree! Read the other reviews and there is a common theme of a beautifully situated house, fully equiped to cater for 10 people and caring owners. Ofcourse invasion beaches are an important sightseeing destination, but Normandy has been a batle field for centuries, so many other interesting things to see and do. Including tasting the local cidres and calvados. And after an active day, coming back to the beach house was truly like coming home! Thank you Mike and Tansy, for creating this haven.
9th February 2012 Cottage
Mike and Tansy maintain an ideal cottage for couples looking to relax but still be close enough for sight-seeing. I have already recommended this location to a number of friends looking to explore the Normandy area. Staying here was one of our most memorable trips in Europe.
17th February 2012 Cottage
My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying in the cottage for a long weekend. We had a fantastic stay and couldn't have asked for better accommodations. On arrival, we were met by Mike and his little canine assistants. Tansy arrived a few minutes later and gave us a full walkthrough of the property and amenities. The cottage was perfect for the two of us and the wood burning stove was a fantastic romantic touch. The Forsters were kind enough to make dinner reservations for us and even arranged a taxi so we could partake in some excellent French wine at dinner. I can't recommend this property strongly enough. You MUST stay here if you plan a visit to Normandy. The location was perfect for excursions to all the sites and the atmosphere was very relaxing. As the weekend came to an end we were sad to leave. It felt more like we had spent the weekend with close friends rather than just renting a place to stay. We highly recommend this property. Thanks again Mike and Tansy. (and Madge too!)
18th June 2012 Apartment
We have just enjoyed a weeks stay in the barn conversion and can thoroughly recommend. The accomodation is of a very high standard with every need catered for even down to dressing gowns, logs to burn and a lovely wetroom style bathroom. We have travelled to France many times but always keep returning to Normandy. It is a lovely place with so many interesting places to visit and the people are always so friendly. Everyone should visit the D-Day beaches once in their lives to appreciate the history and how wonderful the cemetries are kept and the events respected. Tansy and Mike are fantastic hosts and couldnt have been more friendly and helpful. Their home is gorgeous especially if you are animal lovers like us, with lots of friendly creatures to meet! Ideally placed. only 5 mins from Utah beach and 10 minute drive to lots of restaurants, supermarkets etc and although probably easier to reach via ferry crossing to Normandy, we travelled on the Tunnel and the drive is extremely straight forward and hassle free. Spotlessly clean, high quality fittings, lovely place to stay.
12th April 2012 Cottage
Our stay at Tansy and Mike’s cottage was the highlight of our 14 day trip across Europe. Centrally located between St. Mere Eglise and Carentan, the property sits at the heart of all the most intense action of the D-Day invasion and is a great location from which to explore the rest of the sites in the Normandy area. It is secluded from the hustle and bustle of the major tourist areas and offers a truly authentic way to enjoy the countryside as it looked in 1944. Upon our rather late arrival, we received the warmest welcome from Tansy and Mike who greeted us with their cavalcade of canines and whisked us into the cottage. Tansy ensured we were familiarized with the accommodations and, after realizing we were famished due to our long journey from the Netherlands, called ahead to reserve us a table at the John Steele Inn. When we returned from our wonderful dinner, Tansy had prepared for us a very informative packet of attractions in the area and prioritized our limited time to ensure we were able to see as much as possible. We followed her recommendations and it enabled us to see all the best of Normandy. The cottage is magnificent. It is, quite literally, something out of a storybook. The authentic structure oozes character and we fell in love with it at first site. As you walk inside, Tansy has done a brilliant job of delivering 21st century interior design and amenities without sacrificing the 17th century charm of the cottage. With all updated appliances and fixtures, the kitchen has everything you need to prepare your own meals if you decide to dine in. You will enjoy eating on the all glass dining nook that lets you marvel at the pastoral view of the surrounding farmland from the comfort of the cottage. The bathroom is large and the water pressure from the shower is superb. The bed is comfortable and at night the area is deafeningly quiet. There is internet access via Wi-Fi and the satellite TV has hundreds of channels. The wood burning stove adds an element of romanticism to the already idyllic country splendor. The best part of the experience was, undoubtedly, Tansy and Mike. They invited us into their residence for dinner and treated us like family. We cannot thank them enough for their warm hospitality and for bending over backwards to ensure our first-class treatment at every turn. We are already planning our next stay for the same time next year. If you are coming to Normandy, this is definitely the place to stay.
21st July 2012 Cottage
We spent a week at Ferme de l'Eglise and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The cottage is a lovely mix of the old and the new - historic lounge and bedroom and very modern kitchen, bathroom and conservatory/ dining room. Tansy and Mike have equipped the cottage with everything you could need for your stay, including bath robes, books, bikes, DVDs and kitchen and bathroom supplies. They are truly wonderful hosts and made us feel so welcome, as did Simon who met us on arrival. Tansy had sent us a very comprehensive information package including exact details on how to locate the cottage all the way to Australia when we booked. Nothing is overlooked to make sure that you enjoy your time with them. The cottage has a very good internet connection and lots of satellite TV channels to choose from. It was a treat for us to be on a small farm surrounded by so many animals who we were free to interact with if we wished.
15th April 2012 Apartment
Our stay at Tansy and Mike’s was delightful. During the day we toured the Normandy beaches, memorials and cemetaries. At the end of the day we relaxed on the drive back to our barn loft at Ferme de l’Eglise. This was the perfect ending of each day. Driving out through the farm fields, looking at all the wildlife and then passing through their green iron gate positioned directly in front of the local charming Church. The evenings were very peaceful, yet the mornings were even better. From hearing the Church bell chiming, the donkey honking and the roosters letting you know it is morning, we couldn’t help but start our day with a smile. We hope to return and would recommend Ferme de l”Eglise to everyone.
14th October 2012 Cottage
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in October. It is difficult to describe how comfortable and convenient this little cottage is. There are all the mod cons and it is quaint, too, on top of that. You feel as though you have your own little nest in the countryside. Tansy and Mike are gracious and helpful hosts, with all the information you need to visit the historic beaches and other sights in the area. The glassed-in patio overlooking the pond and the animal enclosures is ideal for breakfast or enjoying a glass of wine in the evening. This cottage was all that was promised and more! I highly recommed this gite for a couple looking for a romantic and convenient location.
7th November 2012 Apartment
"Terrific Place" We just loved staying with Tansy, Mike and the fuzzy and feathery people. This was the perfect place to relax and explore the area. We stayed in the apartment which has a king size bed and is very well equipped. The size is just right and it is very comfortable with many thoughtful amenities. [Skye TV is a real plus and they have lots of movies as well.]The village is quiet, but is located close to very nice grocery stores. We found the church bells soothing. We enjoyed the animals which were all friendly and interesting. If you are interested in World War II this is a great place to stay with easy access to major roads and just a few minutes from Utah Beach and Ste Mere Eglise. We wouldn't change a thing!!!
